Coriolus in Traditional Chinese Medicine
Li Shi Zhen's Ming dynasty Compendium of Materia Medica NAid: \"The black and green Yun Zhi are beneficial to the spirit and vital energy and strengthen the tendons and bones. If Yun Zhi is taken for a long time, it will make one vigorous and live long\". Its traditional functions are to:
Invigorate the Spleen and eliminate dampness: For Spleen-deficiency patterns with anorexia and loose stools. Recently, used for hepatitis, hepatocirrhosis, nephritis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc
Relieve cough and dyspnoea
Modern Chinese applications: Anticarcinogenic: For leukaemia, lymphoma, early stage of liver cancer, and cancers of the stomach, breast and cervix
Coriolus polysaccharides are the most thoroughly researched and most successful all-natural immune supplements in the world and the only immune-enhancing product to be proven in independent, published clinical studies. Most of the over 400 published studies on Coriolus have concentrated on the immuno-modulating and anti-tumour properties of hot water extracts of Coriolus.
Two Japanese studies on patients with gastric cancer treated by chemotherapy showed that those given Coriolus extracts had less recurrence of cancer and greater disease-free survival rates
Coriolus has been shown to reduce cancer metastasis, stimulate interleukin-1 production in human cells, and scavenge free-radical oxidising compounds
Japanese oncologists have used Coriolus polysaccharides to support immune health after surgical treatment for various conditions and to support and protect immune health in those patients receiving therapies where immune suppression is a prominent feature. Japanese clinical research has consistently demonstrated the ability of Coriolus to double and even triple survival rates for people receiving chemotherapy and radiation
Randomised double-blind clinical trials in China demonstrated that Coriolus improved the clinical symptoms commonly occurring in cancer patients, for example, weakness, tiredness, poor appetite, pain, anxiety, insomnia, nausea, vomiting, and spontaneous and night sweats. In addition, it minimised the side effects of chemo-or radiotherapy, stabilised the white blood cell count, increased the activity of NK and LAK cells, reversed the CD4+ /CD8+ ratio and raised the value of Karnofsky evalution
In China, Coriolus is used for viral infections of the liver, including hepatitis B and chronic hepatitis, and it is used as a preventive and curative drug for liver cancer
A Portuguese study showed that Corilus-MRL produced significant success in reducing or eliminating HPV infection as compared to the control group who received no Coriolus-MRL supplementation
A Portuguese non-controlled study showed that Coriolus-MRL produced success in eliminating Herpes Simplex as compared to the use of Acyclovir cream
