Basic information
Instead of accounting for all the more than 450 main and extra points, Clinical Application of Commonly Used Acupuncture Points, in a luxurious 1023 pages, concentrates on the 86 most commonly used points of acupuncture.  This is an original and realistic approach, reflecting actual, normal usage in clinical practice, avoiding theoretical study of points that are rarely used.

It is a truism that the more experienced an acupuncturist is the fewer points he or she will use in clinical practice.  Even inexperienced acupuncturists use only a tiny proportion of the hundreds of points available to them.  Therefore Li Shizhen, in Clinical Application of Commonly Used Acupuncture Points, edited by David Mayor, has provided acupuncturists with a much more effective clinical reference.

Clinical Applicaiton of Commonly Used Acupuncture Points  relates much more immediately  to real clinical practice than comprehensive reference works covering all the hundreds of different possible points.  The fact that Li Shizhen takes no fewer than 1023 pages to cover all this simply illustrates the magnificent practical depth this treasure chest of a work provides for acupuncture practitioners.
